Cyber Ghost VPN not working for BBC iPlayer?

I downloaded the Cyberghost free VPN. It seems to be working fine - I'm in Australia and I change the location to show UK. Yet when I go to the BBC iPlayer website it still says I am not in the UK....why isn't it working?

A VPN on its own does not change or hide your IP address. A Proxy Server is what does that. Looking at the Cyber Ghost website makes me suspect they are not based in the UK. Wherever their proxy servers are based will be the country where they appear to be to the BBC.

Accessing BBC iPlayer from Australia is probably a breach of the BBC's licence conditions and it could actually be illegal.

Forget about a VPN, and see if you can find a UK proxy server. Be warned, however, that many large organisations know about proxy servers and block those as well. This could be the problem and it does not matter whether you connect to the proxy using a VPN or not. The VPN on secures the connection between you and the proxy server from anyone who might be eavesdropping.
